The Professional MBA at Anderson

April 16, 2008
Dear Prospective Student,

You may have read of the appointment of Marc M. Nigliazzo to the newly created position of UNM Vice President for Rio Rancho Operations. This announcement is significant in that it underscores UNM's commitment to provide quality education to those who live and work west of the Rio Grande. In the not too distant future, the UNM West campus will be alive and bustling with faculty, staff and students at all levels.

The Anderson School of Management will be one of the first colleges to offer its graduate programs at UNM West. As plans for construction and implementation of UNM West are developed, we at Anderson are developing plans to offer our traditional MBA program at the new campus. We believe that the traditional MBA program will enable us to serve a broader segment of the population by offering a flexible and affordable format, one that will allow students to control their schedules and set their own pace for completing their degrees. I'm pleased to be able to tell you that beginning in January of 2009, we will offer two MBA core classes per semester in Rio Rancho. The classes will meet in the evenings at our facility on American Road.

As you know, the Anderson School of Management has been offering graduate education in Rio Rancho since 2006 when the Professional MBA (PMBA) program was launched. Modeled after Anderson's highly successful Executive MBA program, the PMBA program was specifically designed for those who were early in their careers and who needed the convenience of an evening schedule. Students from the current PMBA class will graduate in December of this year. At that time, the Professional MBA program will go on hiatus while we implement the transition to the UNM West programs.

The Executive MBA program remains Anderson's signature program, offering seasoned professionals the opportunity to enhance their leadership capabilities while learning best practices and building a dynamic peer network. Applications are being accepted for the next EMBA class which will begin on June 20. The deadline for applications for this year's EMBA class has been extended to accommodate those who were considering the PMBA program, and who now wish to apply to the EMBA program. Greg Molecke, EMBA Program Specialist, is available to discuss the program and provide assistance with the admissions process. I encourage you to contact him if you are interested in joining this year's incoming EMBA class. You can reach Greg at 505/277-2525 or at molecke@mgt.unm.edu.

All of us at Anderson are excited about the plans we have for the future of graduate management education both at UNM West and on main campus. We hope you share our enthusiasm and will become part of UNM's tradition of excellence.

Sincerely,

Amy Wohlert
Interim Dean
